Ingredients of Zarda
- 1 kg rice
- 1 kg sugar
- Dry fruits including almonds and Raisins
- Cardamon
- The yellow colour ( Zarda Rang in Urdu ) is especially used for cooking purposes
- Milk about one cup of tea
Method of cooking Sweet rice or Zarda Chawal
1) First of all take 1 kg rice. Clean them. Then soak in water for some time. You can say about 5 to 10 minutes.
2) Take a cooking pot. Add about 2 1/2 kg water, yellow colour one small packet available in stores, and cardamon about 1 tablespoon. Put the pot on the fire.
3) Water starts to boil then add Rice.
4) When you feel that 1/3 part of the rice has been cooked or in another calculation when you feel that 60/ rice has cooked now put off the pot from the fire and remove all water from them with the help of a sieve.
5) Now keep the cooking pot and put it on fire. Now add 1 quarter oil, one cup of milk, 1 tablespoon cardamon, and 1 kg sugar and it can also be according to your taste.
6) When you feel that sugar has melted now add boiled rice to it.
7) Now mix them but very carefully. Now add dry fruits and mix them carefully.
8) Cover rice with a piece of cloth and then with a potlid.
9) Put them in the gentle fire for some time about 5 to 10 minutes. Now they have ripped. You can use them, eat them.
